Hokies Travel to The Garden

Virginia Tech will play fifth-ranked Syracuse at Madison Square Garden tomorrow night at 9:30 ET.  The game can be seen on ESPNU and watch a good coaching matchup between Seth Greenburg of the Hokies and Jim Boeheim of the Syracuse Orange.  For Virginia Tech, it will need to be a coaching battle that Greenburg will need to win, as he has a very young team.

Dorenzo Hudson is going to have to be the senior leader of the Hokies and take control on the court.  He is the leading scorer averaging 19.3 points per game through three games this season.  Victor Davilla will have to be a force on the insde for Tech because of the injury that has sidelined J.T. Thompson.  Davilla saw a lot of playing time last year and will need to stay out of foul trouble.  Expect Freshman Dorian Finney-Smith to have a big game against Syracuse.  The Freshman was a highly recruited prospect that stayed in his home state to play for Seth Greenburg.  Finney-Smith is averaging 8.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game.  Tryone Garland and Erik Green will need to take care of the ball in the back court against Syracuse’s tough zone defense.

Syracuse always travels well, especially when they’re close to home.  Expect the Orange to pack the Garden tomorrow night and give it a home-court atmosphere for Syracuse.  Virginia Tech will have to learn from their mistakes early in order to compete late in the game and potentially beat Syracuse.
